TOWN HALLS & WORKSHOPS
Better conversations
are something we can practice.
Thoughtful facilitation. Practical listening skills. Shared stories that help us understand how policy and public life affect our community.
LET’S TALK
Saving democracy,
one conversation at a time.
Our conversation workshops help us listen and talk across political differences. We share the experiences that shape our views, practice curious questions, and learn ways to extend the conversation into our families and neighborhoods.
Joan adapts each workshop to the people in the room and the questions of the moment. New participants are welcome; you can begin with the conversation norms together.
POLICY MATTERS
Put people at the center of policy.
Guided conversations explore how public decisions affect our lives. Topics may include housing, transportation, energy, healthcare, education, and ballot initiatives.
Start with the story.
Connect an issue with a lived experience, a concern, or a question.
Explore the perspectives.
Hear the reasoning behind different views and ask for clarity.
Take the conversation home.
Leave with ideas and listening skills you can use in everyday life.
BOOK TASTINGS
Ideas worth bringing
to the table.
A book tasting shares a few useful ideas from a book and gives us time to discuss or practice them. You can take part even if you haven’t read every page.
LET’S GATHER. LET’S TALK. LET’S ACT.
The next conversation starts with you.
Bring a question, a story, or simply your curiosity. There’s a place for you here.
St. Louis roots. Room for every perspective.
